Dr. Craig Scibal – Optometrist & Owner

Dr. Craig Scibal was born and raised in eastern NC (Morehead City) as the middle of 3 boys. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Following his undergraduate studies, he headed west to the University of Houston College of Optometry and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2014. While in school, he received numerous clinical scholarships and awards and was nominated to give the commencement speech at graduation.

“I moved back to eastern NC because of my love of living on the coast. I enjoy surfing, drumming, attempting to play sports, live music, sipping craft beer, and going on adventures with my dog, Horatio Fizkin Scibal.”

Dr. Scibal married his wife Cameron on Bald Head Island in April of 2018.  In doing so, Horatio (CEO) also gained a sister, a yellow lab named Addison Lee.  Along with the 2 dogs, Dr. Scibal and Cameron also have 2 kids!  A little boy named Bennett born in 2019 and a little girl named Sydney born in 2021.  You’ll find the Scibal crew constantly out and about exploring Wilmington’s brewery and restaurant scene while also dabbling in live music throughout town.  

Dr. Scibal is super excited to have the opportunity to serve the wonderful people of Leland/Wilmington and can’t wait to develop lasting positive relationships with his patients!

Dr. Meghan Dalziel Brooks – Optometrist

Dr. Meghan Dalziel Brooks grew up in Cary, NC. She attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she majored in biology with minors in chemistry and French language. During her time there she completed a microbiology research study testing nursing students at the university for MRSA. 
 
After graduating, Dr. Brooks headed to Philadelphia to attend the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. While studying optometry, she found a passion for helping patients in the neuro ophthalmic disease department and was nominated by her professors for clinical honors in neuro ophthalmology. She was also nominated by her professors for membership in the Gold Key Society for her volunteer work as President of the North Carolina Optometry Student Association. She graduated cum laude with clinical honors. 
 
Dr Brooks married her husband Nate on Wrightsville Beach in August of 2022. She and Nate enjoy spending time outdoors in our beautiful state including hiking, boating, and playing with their dog, Otto. 
 
Dr. Brooks values listening to her patients, and her goal as an optometrist has always been to become a trusted member of the community. She is excited to help patients of the Leland and Wilmington area at the beautiful Swell Vision Center!
